Responding to the needs of her local community, Charlotte Leger founded The Haumea Collective, a regenerative space for mothers to sustain earth-based activism on the island of Hawai’i. The Collective centers on motherhood as a rite of passage to revitalize a strong community ecology, recognizing that women are pillars of earth-based change-making. Offering resources for women throughout all stages of pregnancy, hosting gatherings and workshops, and providing access to birth options and care, the Collective addresses the question: How do we respond to the global crisis while supporting the complexities of local identity, tradition, and culture?
