Wildflowers Institute is dedicated to strengthening communities so that they are self-sustaining from one generation to another. Through innovative methods based on deep listening, social-cultural mapping, and extensive interviews, the institute discovers community resources that formally and informally hold the commons together. They sponsor award ceremonies to shine a light on these resources and offer ongoing fellowships to help empower local residents to shape the direction and culture of the community at large. Wildflowers serves as a coordinator with funders, local governments, and national organizations to develop social investments based on its findings about the social and cultural life of the community. All of its work creates an experience for insiders and outsiders in which shared purposes, values, and practices override differences.
