The Tribal EcoRestoration Alliance (TERA) is a cross-cultural, multi-organizational collaborative that works to revitalize ecology, economy, and culture through Indigenous-led stewardship. TERA trains and employs a Native field crew, “the heart and soul of TERA”, that provides restoration and land stewardship services based in Lake County, California. TERA also offers a 140-hour curriculum to interested Native adults in learning about restoration ecology, traditional knowledge, ecological literacy, cultural study, and land stewardship. TERA’s mission is “to cultivate land stewardship, livelihood, and leadership skills that weave collaborative relationships between Tribal members and the community at large, for the benefit of all lands and beings.”
“Success for us is often qualitative. It’s the feeling of healing, joy, grief, reverence, and connection that comes alive when working with our hands to steward life on the land, in the ancestral territory of our all-Native crew.”
