St. Ethelburga’s Centre for Reconciliation & Peace

Based in the heart of London, the work of St. Ethelburga’s Centre for Reconciliation & Peace sits at the intersection of climate and peace with the understanding that there can be no peace on Earth unless there is peace with Earth. The Centre offer trainings, events, leadership programs, and multimedia content which equip and inspire people to become peacemakers in their own contexts.

Kalliopeia has supported the Centre’s spiritual ecology programs for many years, including their most recent project called Lifelines: a large-scale hedgerow and tree planting project that brings people together across divides and inspires a love for the natural world. In partnership with their culturally diverse and multi-faith networks, the Centre brings UK farmers together with urban groups creating volunteer teams to:

• Plant thousands of meters of hedgerow and woodland to increase UK biodiversity, create carbon sinks, and reduce flood risk;
• Deepen people’s relationship with the natural world, particularly for those who may not otherwise have access to the countryside;
• Bring people together across differences and divisions, in a unifying sense of service to the natural world.
